It is no secret that BME houses world-class researchers. It should come as no surprise, then, that four BME faculty members have been awarded new grants from the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Institute at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill: Drs. Xiaogang Hu, Yevgeny Brudno, Paul Dayton, and Matt Fisher. Xiaogang Hu, partnered with NCSU’s Dr. Yong Zhu, receives his award to develop and validate a real-time hand kinematic tracking glove for stroke survivors, which can be used to register the extent and quality of hand usage during daily activities.  Yevgeny Brudno and Paul Dayton will be researching how to target glioblastoma recurrence by utilizing ultrasound-enabled refillable drug depots. Their project also features collaborators Shawn Hingtgen, Kim Brouwer, and Tom Egan. Lastly, Matt Fisher, partnered with UNC’s Paul Weinhold, will be investigating the use of an angiogenic suture for tendon healing simulations.

Congratulations to all recipients!
