liglerDr. Ligler comes to BME-NC from the Naval Research Center in Washington DC where she held the position of Senior Scientist for Biosensors and Biomaterials and was past chair of the Bioengineering Section of the National Academy of Engineering. She is a leader in the area of biosensors and microdevices with over 350 full-length publications and patents; a body of work that has been cited over 7,500 times. In addition, her research efforts have led to eleven commercial biosensor products. Further, Dr. Ligler has received many awards during her career; including election as an SPIE Fellow in 2000 and a Fellow of AIMBE in 2011. In 2003, she was awarded the Homeland Security Award (Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Field) by the Christopher Columbus Foundation and the Presidential Rank of Distinguished Senior Professional by President Bush.
