BME faculty member Dr. Shumin Wang has received a 2016 UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) Developmental Grant for his outstanding proposal to improve cancer diagnostic imaging tools. With help from a small group of imaging experts including BME’s Dr. David Lalush, Shumin proposes to develop a new part for PET/MRI machines that would help overcome current limitations. This new part, an advanced coil array, would allow for enhanced spatial resolution, minimized subject motion, and the incorporation of MRI cancer imaging protocols. This instrument will be the first and only of its kind and could truly make the difference for millions of patients. Congratulations on this incredible achievement, Shumin!
