Novocor will be a showcase company at the Council for Entrepreneurial Development’s 2015 Life Science Conference. Tony Voiers and Andrew DiMeo founded Novocor in 2013 to license their first medical device, HypoCore, which was designed with the help of NC State senior design students (and now alums) Kathryn Sauer Cox, Nathan Cox, Steven Grove, Samuel Lee, and Luke Oltmans. HypoCore will enable first responders to deliver ice-cold saline as therapeutic hypothermia to patients in cardiac arrest. HypoCore uses an endothermic chemical reaction similar to cold packs to cool the saline during the infusion process. Quickly cooling the patient’s temperature can limit neurological damage and give the patient time to get to the hospital. At CED’s Life Science Conference, Novocor will have the opportunity to present their device to potential investors and other interested industry affiliates. BME congratulates Novocor for this exciting opportunity.
