Mike Lebhar, a BME undergraduate based at UNC-Chapel Hill, has been given an Honorable Mention by the Barry Goldwater Scholarship committee. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers who intend to pursue research careers in these fields. In order to be considered, Mike had to be nominated by faculty at UNC, an honor in itself. He is currently pursuing a degree in Biomedical and Health Sciences Engineering with the ultimate goal of earning an MD/PhD in Biomedical Engineering, which will allow him to conduct industry-level research with drug screening models. BME would like to congratulate Mike on this achievement!
