Mac Info and Resources

Some of these are mighty hard to classify or quantify. So here's some "resources" for you.
  • You might be looking for help with your computer problem, or you might be looking for a way to network a few computers.
  • Alternatives to HyperCard -- unfortunately, I think I need to start looking for such a beast. Interesting alternatives are Serf, Teach!, and iShell.
  • If you want to buy Mac stuff, dealmac is the place to stop before you shop!
  • DropToTheFloor's Guide To Production is an impressive set of links for programmers to get programming (including a free that means old and unsupported compiler to download).
  • Emulation Net is the place to find an emulator of ANYTHING! Check it out: you'll probably be surprised! There's also other emulators.
  • Idiot's Guide to Mac Cases
  • iTools on older systems is possible! This was later covered in MacAddict, July 2000.
  • MacAddict hosts the EvangaLists You should check out Why Macs Are Better. Old Macs still run acceptably, and Macs require less support. TRUST ME! I've worked in support long enough to know. I don't want to fix the computer at home, so I have a Mac at home.
  • You can find FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) on most topics. The Mac FAQs are listed here.
  • How to Use MacsBug: A Tutorial by Stefan Anthony
  • InfoJunkie's Apple & Internet Links
  • What do you need to know about a Low End Mac? You can get a great value! More useful than a 286!
  • The Mac Cognoscenti Ring will start you on a loop of wallop-packing Mac sites.
  • The Mac IIci Page has everything on the IIci. Cool!
  • Macintosh Extensions Guide
  • Macintosh Logic Board Battery Information
  • Macintosh OS.com
  • Macintosh Stuff Page has many links everywhere, including resources for older Macs.
  • Macintouch USB Guide
  • Macs for Education is a well-prepared report on why educational sites should choose Macs.
  • MacLinks
  • Desktop patterns galore at Mike's Whack Tops as noted in a MacAddict article!
  • Patching Drive Setup 1.x to format more drives
  • Peggy's Junk Page has MatLab tools and Mac OS modifications for OS 8.0, OS 8.5, OS 8.6, and OS 9.0.
  • The Power Supply for Mac IIcx/ci/vx/vi, Quadra 700, Performa 600, and PowerMac 7100 has some bad habits. Check the pinouts and specs here!
  • REAL Software sells REALBasic that is supposed to be a simple and powerful compiler for Mac. Hmm... Very inspirational.
  • Resexcellence has many ResEdit tips to trick out your Mac.
  • The Tipster is the next version of The Mac Bible (a truly handy Mac book) tips.
  • The ULTIMATE Macintosh has a lot of links to keep you busy.
  • Zero-budget AppleShare IP from MacInTouch.
  • General Computer Info

  • Latency and the Quest for Interactivity is very good reading. I found this through a spot in TidBITs. The author, Stuart Cheshire, has more good stuff and a link to Mac programming resources.

  • MacLaunch.com
