Yahoo maintains
list on free internet access.

I like freewwweb the best, and
they've been around the longest. They can support any platform
if you know enough about configuration! You must use their homepage.
They do have a Mac
issue documented, and
online support
email. They also have started to offer
free xDSL!

freeI has access numbers everywhere my
sweetie has travelled for work recently. One person very happy there! but
I have had lingering problems getting the Mac client to work well. You
must have their client so you can view their ads. The 2.0 Mac version was
worse, and I didn't feel like backing it out once I saw freewwweb finally
had a local number for my area. You can
read
about other Mac experiences with freeI.

1stUp.com provides behind-the-scenes
free access for
AltaVista,
Lycos, and others now with Mac
clients as well as Windows clients. You must view their ads. It works
slightly better than freeI, but maybe I just played with it less. Choose
between front sponsors
based on what color scheme you can stand for the window of ads on your
screen.

Firstworld DSL offers free
installation and free equipment. It does have the monthly cost, I am
sure, if that's all the free mentioned!
