Dr.
Johnson studied at the University of Notre Dame and SUNY Upstate Medical
University. He completed General Surgery and Plastic Surgery residencies at
Case-Western Reserve University and the University of Pittsburgh, respectively.
Afterwards, he took a postdoctoral fellowship in thrombosis/platelet biology at
Harvard University.
Dr.
Johnson practiced reconstructive surgery for ten years at the University of Pittsburgh,
where he founded and led the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative.
Subsequently, he then co-founded and was the CEO of Tissue Informatics, Inc. He
has held various positions that include Chief Medical Officer, Executive Vice
President of Life Sciences and Chief Business Officer of Icoria, Inc. and
Executive Vice President at Entegrion, Inc. Dr. Johnson is a past Chairperson
of the Plastic Surgery Research Council, President of the Pennsylvania
Biotechnology Association and Tissue Engineering Society International, and is
currently the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the three –part journal, Tissue Engineering. He serves on the
Board of Trustees of the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative, Renacyte,
LLC, and the University of North Carolina Medical Foundation as well. He also
serves as the National Chairman of the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill School of Medicine Medical Excellence Fund. Given his extensive training
and experience, Dr. Johnson is now the Vice President of Research and Development
at Avery Dennison Medical and President and CEO of Scintellix, LLC, a
biomedical consultancy based in Raleigh, NC. |
