Each year, the Naval Research Laboratory awards an Edison Award to four patents that have illustrated the potential of significantly benefitting the people of the United States. We are proud to announce that BME faculty Dr. Fran Ligler and Dr. Michael Daniele have each received a 2015 Edison Patent Award for their outstanding work on “Micro Blood Vessels and Tissue Ducts.” Dr. Liger is also the recipient of a second Edison Award for her patent “Sheath Flow Device and Method.” Drs. Ligler and Daniele will receive their awards at the 48th Alan Berman Research Publication and Edison Patent Awards Reception and Dinner, to be held on March 18th, 2016. BME extends its warmest congratulations to Fran and Michael and are excited to see the impact of the devices they have developed.
