BME Postdoctoral Fellows Dr. Brian Cummins (working with Dr. Frances Ligler) and Dr. Liliana Mellor (working with Dr. Elizabeth Loboa) were selected for a 2014-2015 Professional Development Award from the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Graduate School. The award is intended to support the professional development goals of postdocs at NC State University. Dr. Nisha Cavanaugh, Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, described Dr. Cummins application and proposal to complete the “How to Build a Startup” course as aligning perfectly with the intention of the award. The selection committee was impressed with Dr. Mellor’s proposal to give a podium presentation at the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research and also to develop an outreach program for children. As part of the award, both Dr. Cummins and Dr. Mellor are invited to participate in the 2015 Postdoctoral Research Symposium and share their experiences with graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
