Vinayak Subramanian, a graduate of the BME program, is turning heads at the UNC School of Medicine. Although he enjoyed working with the engineering side of medicine, Vinayak decided his talents were better suited for a role in pure medicine. He wanted to work closely with patients and those afflicted with problems that he could help solve, rather than work on a solution and never meet all of those who would benefit. And his hard work is paying off: he’s won the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship and is already collaborating with a local company to improve patient-centered outcomes. As a result, Vinayak has been featured in UNC Healthcare News. Congratulations, Vinayak!
